When Cam Barker's in the "as good as it gets" list, that's when you know..

Maintain he was the worst player in the league last year. Like, number one.

What this blog tells me is that someone serviceable with some NHL experience will be available and affordable before the season starts.

Patience Homer, patience.

I wonder if PK will ever be considered Norris caliber due to his rep, but regardless, he is DAMN good and will be one of the better dmen in the league for a long time. In fact, I think he already is.

So long as he can stay in the lineup, I don't think there'd be much of a drop-off from Mez to Carlo in all-around play.

I think you should offer sheet Subban or trade the farm for a defenseman.

I'll take Jimmy V back. Guy is a huge team player that can log 6th defensemen minutes and be useful physically, esp if you waive Shelly.

Unless we are able to complete a cheap trade with Sharks for someone like Doug Murray.

Injury issues or not, I'm sorry, one of Coliacavo/Clark/Kubina is a necessity at this point.

I think Meszaros is the better player. But regardless, what does it take to sign Carloiacovo? Will he sign a one year deal? And do we want to get into a multi year deal for him? Those are the questions.

Carlo had the advantage of playing mostly with Pietrangelo the last couple of years whereas Mesz has had O'Donnell and Lilja and other third-pairers.

Either way, it's weird to see a few of these good players still available late in the summer and you have to wonder what sort of opportunities they have before them. Maybe a few teams have offers on the table? Maybe a relatively cheap, one-year deal does the trick?

I would think he's looking for a multi year deal.

Go with one of the UFA's listed. One year deal. No trades for players that have fat contracts. Go with what we have. Hope our luck with rookies can pay off again, maybe someone will be a defensive Read this year in camp.
